The Orange river fishing is the perfect fisherman’s adventure
These fishing trails are perfect for anglers seeking the best tag and release fishing opportunities. We use two-person inflatable rafts on our fishing trips. The 5-day Orange River fishing trails will start at our base camp, The Growcery Camp. We make our final preparations at basecamp before embarking on our fishing adventure.
We spend the next three nights along the banks of the Orange River. The ideal location for the largemouth yellowfish and giant catfish. Fish include big-mouth yellow fish, smallmouth yellowfish, tilapia, catfish, bottom feeders (mudfish) and carp.

Time Frame: 2-night base camp & 2 nights on the river in the wild.

Tour Starts: 8:30 / 9:00 am on the morning of day two on route plan
Equipment: 2 man inflatable rafts, paddles, flotation devices, cooler box for drinks and dry bags for personals

Ends: The Growcery Camp (Transfer back to Base Camp at Take out Point)
What is not included?
Protecting the Environment on the 5-day Orange River fishing trail
No glass is allowed on the river, and all waste will be transported along the route and returned to base camp. Please decanter supplies to plastic containers or make use of cans.
NB – Families travelling with children younger than 18 y/o will need an unabridged birth certificate to be allowed to depart and enter South Africa. Furthermore, minors travelling with only one parent or another need additional documentation. Please familiarise yourself with the required documentation as minors cannot travel without it.

Day 1 |
The Growcery Camp, Vioolsdrift, RichtersveldThe Orange River Fishing Trip will start and end from the Growcery Camp. The camp is right next to the Orange River. We meet our fellow anglers and enjoy a briefing around an open fire on day one at 5 pm. Camping and dinner is included. |
Day 2 |
Orange River FishingAfter breakfast, we will depart this morning and make our way towards a weir in the Orange River. Today is a road transfer from base camp, and we will take some boats along. We will spend a great deal of the day fishing here and using the rafts to set up the perfect opportunity to fish. |
Day 3 and 4 |
Orange River FishingAfter breakfast this morning, we finalise the last packing arrangements and depart camp. It is the start of our wild camping and fishing adventure. We support catch and release and trust that all anglers will help with our experience. Here you will have the chance to catch the large mouth and small mouth yellow fish of the Orange river. We will make a base camp along the banks of the river. |
Day 5 |
The Growcery CampWe return back to the base camp on day 5. Today is our last day on the banks of the orange river in the wild. Late afternoon we will return to our base camp, and this is the final evening of our fishing adventure on the orange river. |
