Ideal for beginners, the Orange River features rapids graded between levels 1 and 3. As a pool drop river, each rapid is followed by a calm pool, offering a leisurely and enjoyable rafting experience. As you travel, immerse yourself in the Richtersveld Mountains' captivating scenery, where you might even glimpse goat herders navigating the vast desert terrain.
This expedition is designed for exploration, combining rafting, relaxation, hiking, and adventure. Each night, we'll select a scenic spot on the riverbank for camping, providing a unique overnight setting. Relish freshly prepared meals cooked over open fires by our experienced guides, who will ensure your safety and enjoyment throughout the trip.
Start your day with a refreshing paddle and pause for a picnic-style lunch amidst the river's tranquility in the afternoons. Enjoy ample time to relax or embark on a hike in the late afternoons, taking in the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Our commitment to nature means camping in natural areas along the river, with a leave-no-trace philosophy to protect the ecosystem. We provide a comprehensive packing and kit list to ensure you're well-prepared. Arrive at our base camp by 5 pm on the first day to be welcomed by our guides, who will help you prepare for the adventure ahead. The evening concludes with dinner and relaxation around the campfire, setting the tone for the exciting days to follow.
The Trail starts at The Growcery Camp and ends on the banks of Namibia in Aussenkehr where we will be transported back to the Growcery Camp in South Africa. The perfect outdoor Adventure for the whole family. If you choose to stay at The Growcery Camp after the trip, please book your accommodation or campsite at The Growcery for day 5 before your departure or when booking online.
We are Protecting the Environment: We do not allow glass or glass containers on the river trail. Would you please decant glass content such as wine and spirits into plastic bottles or use canned products? Our travelers will transport all waste back to our base camp. Be mindful of the mark you leave when camping in nature. We want t conserve the natural feel and help our guests by briefing them about how we do things on the river.

The Growcery Camp We meet all our river paddlers at The Growcery Camp no later than 5 pm on day 1. Please notify the camp of any late arrivals. This evening will be an introduction to your river crew and a final briefing on the adventure that awaits us. Our Dinner will be around open fires, and a freshly cooked meal can be expected. Day 2-4 |
The Growcery Camp – Orange River Our River adventure starts at The Growcery Camp with a scrumptious breakfast this morning. The next few days will be along the banks of the Orange River. We explore the magnificent views of the Richtersveld desert and embark on the adventure of a lifetime. This route will take you through farmlands and mountain views and give you perspective on the small economy of the bottom Orange. Orange River – The Growcery Camp Today will be the last day of your river trail. We will end our trial at Aussenkehr, Namibia where we wil be transported back to The Growcery Camp. Meals: Breakfast |
