Situated in the Kaokoaland in Namibia, the Kunene River winds its way from Angola to the desolate Skeleton Coast, forming the natural border between Angola and Namibia.
The river meanders mostly through desert and is the predominant water source in the area, providing a lifeline to the flora and fauna of the region.
If you look down from the surrounding mountains into the valley below, the landscape is dry and barren as far as the eye can see except for a thin ribbon of vibrant green that marks the course of the Kunene. The Kunene River also boasts the spectacular Epupa Falls which is one of the most beautiful regions in Namibia.
